PRESIDIANS SHOWCASE THEIR UNDERSTANDING OF THE THEME ‘TRAVEL’

Theme Based Learning (TBL) is a powerful instructional method that makes concepts easy to comprehend. It uses real life experiences in such a manner, that children easily immerse themselves in learning. Each theme ends with culmination, in which children showcase their learning to their parents, teachers or classmates. Students of grade 2, recently culminated the theme 'Travel'. They demonstrated their understanding of the various concepts covered under this theme; such as essential things for travelling, various purposes of travel, information òn tickets, different modes of transport etc. They shared their experience of various visits and journeys. This theme gave them an opportunity to recall their journey and events that happened while travelling. Students were able to build the understanding that the cost of tickets, facilities offered distance and time taken are the factors that influence the means and modes of travel. Students culminated this theme by showing their photo albums to their friends, making a collage, drawing their dream vehicle and shared about with it in the class.

TBL THEME CELEBRATIONS: LEARNING ABOUT THE FESTIVALS OF INDIA

Students of grade 1 conducted a Culmination activity of Theme Based Learning on the topic ‘Celebration’. Celebrations are a brilliant and joyful way to teach children about the moral, ethical and social values of life and to be together with kin and friends, learn about rituals, food, decoration and having endless fun. The greatness of a culture can be found in its festivals. It is a happy feature that in India we share the pleasures of celebrating festivals of several communities. So our budding Presidians got the opportunity to present information about religious festivals like Diwali, Holi, Rakshabandhan, Eid, Gurunanak Jayanti and National festival like Republic Day, Independence Day etc and thus cemented the spirit of national integration too. They were delighted to make Rangolis and had a lot fun as they enacted skits on different occasions. It was a great learning experience for students.

साँप का बिल: कहानी के साथ छात्रों ने सीखा जुराब से साँप बनाना

प्रिसीडियम में बच्चों को हिंदी के अक्षर सिखाने के लिए कुछ समूह बनाये गए हैं जिनमें स्वर व व्यंजन दोनों शामिल होते हैं। प्रत्येक समूह के अंत में एक कहानी दी जाती है , जिसमें उन अक्षरों से बने शब्दों का प्रयोग किया जाता है जिन्हें बच्चे उस समूह के अंतर्गत पढ़ चुके हैं। इस कहानी का उद्देश्य बच्चों की अक्षरों पर बनी समझ को मज़बूत करना होता है । प्रिसीडियम द्वारका -६ के बच्चों ने ऐसी ही एक कहानी ‘सांप का बिल’ पढ़ी। इस कहानी की पूर्व-पठन
गतिविधि में छात्रों ने जुराब से सांप बनाना सीखा। बच्चों ने अध्यापिका के निर्देशानुसार जुराब पर कागज़ की आँखें व जीभ लगा कर सांप बनाये, फिर उन्होंने उस सांप रूपी जुराब को हाथ में पहन कर अपनेसहपाठियों के साथ खूब मस्ती की । इस प्रकार की पूर्व-पठन व पठ्नोप्रांत गतिविधियों का उद्देश्य बच्चों में कविता/कहानी की समझ को बढ़ाना व आँख-हाथ समन्वय का विकास करना होता है।

INTRODUCING THE THEME OF SEA WITH A MAKE BELIEF BEACH ACTIVITY

We, at Presidium firmly believe in this philosophy. The only source of knowledge is experience and if we give our pupils a hands on experience it would be the best method to teach any concept. Students of grade 1 had a wonderful time while witnessing and playing at the artificial beach constructed at the school premises, as we conducted an activity to introduce the new theme Sea. The aim of this activity was to make students curious about sea and sea life. Through this outdoor activity, students could connect and enjoy imagining what it would be like at the beach and explored the sea and had a fun filled engagement at sea inspired pretend play like making sand castles, collecting shells etc. This innovative activity helped students enrich their mind and learn new concepts in a very interesting way.

PRESIDIANS LEARN GRAMMAR WITH SPIN THE WHEEL ACTIVITY!

"Grammar is the structure and sound of a language." Equally, we know that grammar lays the groundwork for efficient communication and enhance accuracy. With this thought in mind, Presidium Dwarka 6 recently conducted an interesting activity "Spinning the wheel". A simple communicative activity, it engaged students with an aim to enhance and strengthen their grammatical concepts. Students revised the concept of usage of A/An, Naming words, Action words, Opposites and sound of different blends. Each and every student received the chance to spin the wheel and they enthusiastically answered whichever topic got through the needle. The activity proved to be very enriching and fruitful.

PRESIDIANS INDULGE IN A FUN VOCABULARY ENHANCING ACTIVITY

We, at Presidium, believe in inculcating a strong relationship between letters’ sounds and symbols. Keeping this in mind, an Intra Class Spellathon Competition was organised under the Story Tellers Academy. The children were engrossed in various rounds such as spell them right, who am I ? & Let us arrange. The presidians were able to relate the letter with its phonic sound and innovate a meaningful word enriching his/her vocabulary. The day was observed with competency, learning spirit, enriching vocabulary and positive winning spirit.

PRESIDIANS DISPLAY THEIR PATRIOTIC SPIRIT ON REPUBLIC

Republic day was celebrated with pride and patriotism at Presidium Dwarka 6. The festivities began with the Guard of Honour by the young aspiring Presidians, followed by the hoisting of the Tricolour by the revered chief guests Shri Anand Bansal, Director Dwarka Zone and Ms. Vandana Batra, Member of the Governing Body. The wonderful speeches and patriotic songs inspired one and all to do something for the motherland. The powerful and energetic performances unfurled the feeling of patriotism and love for our country. The school courtyard echoed with the cheers of ‘Jai Hind’ and ‘Vande Matram’. Towards the end, everyone took a pledge to uphold the honour, integrity, dignity and uniqueness of our nation.

Dance is the means to communicate your emotions without really saying. Keeping this in mind Presidium Dwarka sector 6 organized an 'Intra class Happy Feet Dance Competition'. Our young flamboyant Presidians tapped their feet on folk songs representing various states like Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Punjab etc. Students danced with full of fidelity as they created an atmosphere of euphoria. It was a delightful experience to watch students show great moves so confidently. The competition provided Presidians the first step towards becoming a dance maestro.

PRESIDIANS LEARN THE CONCEPT OF MONEY WITH A FUN MATH ACTIVITY

Money is used for buying different things such as toys, food, clothes or vehicles. Money is also used to get service from experts, be it a gardener or a doctor. Keeping this in mind a classroom activity was organized at Presidium Dwarka 6 wherein our leaders of tomorrow brought plastic coins and currency notes to learn more about the concept of Money. A shop was set up in class wherein students indulged in the practice of buying and selling goods and services. Through this activity students learnt about different denominations of coins and notes, and combine them to see how they can buy different items.

PRESIDIANS ENJOY THE CIRCLE TIME ACTIVITY, ‘CROWN OF FRIENDS’

Circle Time is a pleasant and comfortable time when the entire class comes together for reflection, enjoyment and celebration. A circle time activity, ‘Crown of Friends’ was recently organised for the students of grade Prep. They were encouraged to paste the photographs of their friends on their crown. Later on they wore those crowns and were also told to share about their friends. Students look forward to such activities as it refreshes their mood creating an atmosphere of happiness. Such engagements also enhances the confidence, listening and speaking skills of the students. Circle Time is truly a fun way of learning by being in the company of friends.
