Learning about the different 3D shapes is a vital part of Numeracy and Mathematics in the Curriculum for Excellence. It can enable pupils to improve pupils’ object recognition as they discover more about the world around them. An activity was performed in Grade V, wherein the students developed the nets of some most tricky 3D shapes - Pyramids and prisms. A geometry net is a 2-dimensional shape that can be folded to form a 3-dimensional shape or a solid. Students cut, fold and tape/paste the shape nets to create 3D shapes on the chart paper as it is also vitally important in any aspect of 3D design. Presidians consolidate their knowledge about the properties of prims and pyramids along with their nets in a play-way method. It allows them to use their knowledge and encourages exploration and curiosity, and these skills are the foundation of intellectual development and cognitive processing.
