February 20, is annually observed as World Day of Social Justice, recognizing the need to promote social justice, which includes efforts to tackle issues such as poverty, exclusion, gender equality, unemployment, human rights, and social protections. In keeping with the goal of achieving full employment and support for social integration, the quintessence and the significance of the day was illustrated through a special assembly by the students of Grade IV and Grade V. Students seized this opportunity to convey that social development is a means to achieve social justice — solidarity, harmony, and equality. The assembly commenced with the Morning Prayer followed by the news headlines and thoughts for the day which laid importance on this day. Students participated wholeheartedly by making everyone aware of the significance of this day through speeches, quotations, and PPT, where their thoughts laid stress on poverty eradication, equal rights, promotion of full employment, gender equality, and access to social well-being, and economic justice for all. The assembly foregrounded that social development and social justice cannot be attained in the absence of peace and security or the absence of respect for all human rights and fundamental freedoms.
