“A strong woman knows she has strength enough for the journey, but a woman of strength knows it is in the journey where she will become strong.” - Anonymous
National Women’s Day is celebrated on February 13, the day Sarojini Naidu was born in 1879. Anti-imperialistic, Universal Suffragist, Women's rights activist Mrs. Naidu paved the path for women’s movements in India. Indian Nightingale, Sarojini Naidu shines both as an activist and as a poet. Presidians celebrated the day with verve and vigour by delivering eloquent speeches, rhymes, quotes on the occasion. They performed intense role plays of strong Indian women and gave slogans and made posters on women empowerment. They took the opportunity to reflect on progress made, to call for change, and to celebrate acts of courage and determination by ordinary women who have played an extraordinary role in the history of their countries and communities. The celebration concluded with the note that “women don’t need to find a voice, they have a voice, and they need to feel empowered to use it, and people need to be encouraged to listen.”
