"Why do children dread mathematics? Because of the wrong approach. Because it is looked at as a subject." - Shakuntala Devi
To make learning interesting and fun for students of Grade Prep, activities like joining the dots and matching the numbers with the number names were taken up. It was enjoyable for students to revise numbers from 1-70 by joining the dots and seeing a picture unfold itself before them. Working on a dot-to-dot taught our students' number order and helped with counting. Dot-to-dot games proved wonderful for improving hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills. Concentration and focus could be seen building up through working on dot-to-dot drawings. The students learned to match the numerals with their names and represent them with objects. Some of the students read the spellings while some spoke up confidently. It helped develop their understanding that the numeral has a name and that it represents a quantity.
